Welcome Back!

Hello 2-3 Families,

Happy 2014!  The Polar Vortex gave us a few extra days of winter break so I wanted to update everyone on a few things....

DECEMBER READ CALENDARS
I sent home the January READ calendars today. Please send back the December READ calendars if you have not already done so.  This chilly and snowy weather is the perfect time to curl up with a good book.

NO SPELLING OR FLUENCY THIS WEEK
Due to the shortened week, there will be no spelling or fluency.  We will start fresh next Monday.  Don't forget that the fluency logs are due on Fridays.

BUNDLE UP
When the weather is below 0, there will not be outdoor recess, but if the temperatures are above 0, the kids will go outside.  Please send the kids with layers, hats, gloves, scarves, warm shoes, and extra socks.  I want to keep everyone warm and safe!

MAP TESTING
During conferences I spoke with everyone about the upcoming reading and math MAP test.  We are scheduled to take these tests next week.  I will send an email home the day before each test to remind you of the test.  This will be the first time the kids take a test of this length and on a computer.  I know it can be overwhelming for some.  I will be mentally preparing the kids this week so they can take on their tests with confidence.    

I hope you all had a wonderful winter break!  It was really nice to see the kids today.
